The 300-unit Bugatti Veyron production is going to end very soon as approximately 50 cars are still waiting for a buyer to take them home, according to Bugatti's spokesman. This means that 250 models were already distributed to the whole word, despite the fact that recent speculations show that production of this popular model may be stopped sooner than we expect. For instance, GlobalMotors said that a special edition blue Veyron had chassis number 297, which means that approximately 3 models are still available in the whole series.
However, there's still one major question related to this sad news. As you probably know, Bugatti also rolled out several different Veyrons, including Sang Noir, Grand Sports and Pur Sang. Well, nobody knows for sure if all these models are included in the 300-unit limited production. In case they are, production may end very soon and the 297th chassis may be real.
What's interesting is that Bugatti will also produce 150 Grand Sports starting March this year so the whole equation is far more complex than we first thought.
Bugatti Veyron was officially presented to the general public in 2005 as the fastest production car in the world, being capable of reaching a maximum speed of 408.47 km/h (253.8 mph).
“For years, the Bugatti engineers had worked diligently in order to push the 400 km/h boundary. No wind tunnel can simulate this velocity, which is why after each of a long series of improvements, the different ground clearance levels and the modifications of the rear fenders, spoiler and underbody were tested separately on high-speed test ranges. This ambition and diligence paid off, as the official speed measurement proves,” Bugatti said in 2005 when the company rolled out the Veyron.

Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid Only Gets 4 Stars from NHTSA
It seems that extra weight really affects a car’s crash safety considerably. Apparently, the 54.5 extra kilos (120 lbs) the plug-in Toyota Prius has over the non-plug-in model have made a big difference in its safety rating.
The plug-in received only four stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as it performed worse in both the frontal test, as well as the rollover test. It is very odd how such little additional weight could cause such major changes in how safe a car is. Furthermore, the same weight could be replicated by a small-sized passenger, so on that basis, the regular car, carrying one extra passenger is just as (un-) safe as the plug-in.

But now, a thirty year old Volkswagen Golf is allegedly faster than a Veyron, after its owner spent about 60,000 pounds ($98.856) to improve its performances.
The 1.5 liter engine the car was originally equipped with was replaced with a custom-built 1850 cc turbocharged engine. The car which now has a powerplant that develops 700 horsepower can reach a top speed of 289 km/h (180mph).

Toyota UK Developing GT 86 Endurance Racer
Toyota is bringing back memories with the Toyota GB race team set to be back in business, which will return to the motorsport activity in the Production Class of this year’s Silverstone enduro with a Toyota GT 86, as part of the Britcar 24 Hours endurance race, the toughest in the country.
The livery of the GT 86 will be similar to that used by the double British Touring Car Championship winning AE86 from the mid-1980s. The British racing version of the GT 86 is currently being developed at the Buckinghamshire technical centre of GPRM, the company that created the BTCC Toyota Avensis prototype.
The new Toyota has all the makings of a great production class racer. We are concentrating our efforts on stripping back the chassis, lightening and strengthening it and of course equipping it with a roll cage and all the other safety gear required, as well as quick-refuelling equipment. Other than that, the GT86 will remain essentially in road car form,” said GPRM’s Gary Blackham.

Toyota GT86 May Get KERS Hybrid, Instead of Forced Induction
While TRD is developing a supercharged Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S/ Subaru BRZ, which is set to arrive next year, along with a turbocharged STI version. However, the car’s chief engineer, Tetsuya Tada, is against forced induction of any kind, and recent rumors suggest that the car may get a different kind of boost - electricity!
Top Gear has hinted at a F1-style KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System), after speaking with Tada recently - he said: "We're looking at a next-generation hybrid. More like the TS030 Le Mans Prototype." - a car which uses regenerative braking, stores it and then uses it to give the engine a boost, when needed.

Litchfield Supercharged BRZ Is a Thing of Beauty
There used to be a time when owning a Subaru WRX meant people in Essex bowed to you. That time is probably gone, and now the coolest Suby out there is the BRZ, a sports coupe developed in partnership with Toyota.
Powering the BRZ is a new-in-2012 2-liter boxer engine. It's a cool little motor with Toyota indirect fuel injection and symmetrical exhaust pipes for a beautiful sound. It's perfect… but lacks power. That's where the most famous Subaru tuner in all of Britain comes in. Litchfield makes rally cars, roll cages and suspension that will blow you away. For them, giving more power to the BRZ was no problem.
What Subaru engineers said was impossible is not so. Litchfield found a way to fit a supercharger under the bonnet of the car and with the help of intercoolers and better engine breathing boosted the engine output to 280 hp.

Nissan has created a veritable cult around the GT-R model, which is affectionately named “Godzilla.”
The current generation is on the market for almost a decade, but it has been continuously improved to keep up with its competitors. However, it is criticized for becoming more and more expensive, and the MY2017 GT-R Nismo is the best example of this situation when compared to the MY2007 car.
Fortunately for us, Nissan representatives that are involved in the development of the R36 generation of the GT-R have repeatedly talked about their next creation. We already know that the next GT-R will continue to be a 2+2 coupe, and that it will have a V6 engine placed in the front.
The powerplant will be mated to a dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and the engine is said to bring elements from the 2015 LMP1 car, the building block for the combustion technology, direct injection system, and turbocharger configuration.
The next GT-R is expected to come to market as an 2021 model year vehicle, meaning that the GT-R will get electric support in the form of a hybrid system. While Nissan representatives have not detailed what kind of system they will employ, it is clear that it will have a battery that will power one or several electric motors. Don’t expect the GT-R to become a full-hybrid, but it might have a system to boost power in critical situations.
Another criticized point of the Nissan GT-R, its weight, will not be changed dramatically for the next generation. However, do not expect the GT-R to be heavier than the current model, nor a featherweight. Fortunately, the GT-R R36 will get a design to make you forget about its mass, no matter how upset you were about that part of the spec sheet.

Litchfield Unveils Limited-Series Nissan GT-R LM20, Does 0-60 MPH In 2.5 Seconds
Litchfield, a British specialist in tuning, has announced a limited-edition package based on the Nissan GT-R.
The company will only make 20 cars, which are offered to celebrate two decades of existence and its focused 20 team members. While this is far from the most powerful Nissan GT-R tuning package in the world, Litchfield claims this offers hypercar performance with everyday usability. The latter is something that might be lost when you tune a GT-R to about 1,000 HP or more.
After many years of tuning the Nissan GT-R, Litchfield has determined that 675 HP is the best power figure for everyday usability with improved performance over the standard spec.
The torque values are more impressive the output, because it provides 615 lb-ft (833 Nm) at 2,100 rpm, and 600 lb-ft (813 Nm) are available between 2,500 and 5,100 rpm. That means that the product offers a wide power band, and it can be exploited generously in the day to day drives.
The LM20 can sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 2.5 seconds. Accelerating from 0 to 100 mph (160 km/h) takes 5.7 seconds, and the top speed is 203 mph (326 km/h). Customers have the option of changing power delivery and other settings using an iOS device or the vehicle’s steering wheel.
On top of the exhaustive list of engine improvements, the Litchfield GT-R LM20 comes with a custom suspension, Alcon brakes, lightweight RAYS Volk Racing TE37 wheels, and many exterior appointments. The latter elements are made from carbon fiber.
The interior brings an Alcantara steering wheel with a red band in the center, and unique badging. Customers can order a set of sport seats if they find the ones on the GT-R not enough for their desires. In spite of the enhanced performance, the cars will come with a three-year free servicing package, and a warranty for the same period. These are limited by a 12,000-mile annual usage.
